Bastrop First Friday Art Walk kicks off summer season

Downtown Bastrop is gearing up for its monthly installment of First Friday Art Walk,  this Friday June 3rd,  from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in historically hip downtown Bastrop.  The monthly event showcases and celebrates galleries, artists, restaurants, shops and small business and will celebrate the beginning of the summer season this month. “What better way to kick off the summer season than by joining us for our summer edition of Art Walk, celebrate the sights and sounds of the summer,” said Main Street Director Sarah O’Brien.

Participating businesses host artisans inside their locations and feature a variety of refreshments, live music, and local and regional artwork following along with the summer theme, including Baseball themed fare, fresh veggies, iced tea and much more. This month’s participants include Colorado River Winery, 705 Pine Street, Lost Pines Art Bazaar, 603 Chestnut Street, Main Street Café, 1006 Main Street, R.A. Green Mercantile, 1022 Main Street, Abri Gallery, 932 Main Street, Art Connections Gallery, 908 Main Street, Bastrop Fine Arts Guild, 815 Main Street, Cripple Creek Wine & Gifts, 928 Main Street, Donna’s by Design, 926 Main Street, High Cotton, 922 Main Street, and Schultz Texas Properties, 711 Pine Street.  Featured Artists for June include: Susan Uccello of Piper Press at Lost Pines Art Bazaar, Kristina Treut, at Donna’s by Design, Peggy Rutkowski at R. A. Green Mercantile, and Sandi Hardi and Charleen Baugh at Bastrop Fine Arts Guild.

The First United Methodist Church of Bastrop offers childcare for ages 0-7 from 6-10pm on the first Friday of every month in the church basement. The church is located at 1201 Main Street in downtown Bastrop. The cost is $15 for the first child, $5 for the second child, and FREE for each additional sibling. Dinner is provided. Reservations are required; no walk-ins. RSVP at (512) 321-2201.
