Go Green Status report 

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USF&WS) approved the Bastrop County “Lost Pines Unforeseen Circumstance Response Plan” (The Plan) on February 28th, 2014.  The Plan provides authorization from the (USF&WS) to remove Burnt and Drought killed tress within 124,000 acre Permitted Plan Area of the Lost Pines.

The County and Go Green immediately began meeting and developing an implementation plan.

The annual report of Bastrop Main Street Program activities was presented to the board of directors of the Bastrop Economic Development Corporation during their regular meeting on July 28. Steve Dewire, board president of the Main Street Program (and also the general manager of the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa in Bastrop), gave the presentation as part of its annual update on the program, partially funded by the BEDC. Bastrop ISD students will now have the chance to walk the graduation stage with two degrees in their hands. On August 25, the Colorado River Collegiate Academy (CRCA), located at 1602 Hill Street in Bastrop, will welcome 61 students for their inaugural freshman class.

The Final Numbers Are In: The Rural Capital Area Employment Base Grew 4.2% in 2013, with Tourism Industry Creating Most Jobs

Recently released data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, shows that 8 out 9 counties increased their employment base in 2013. The counties that grew the fastest (on a percentage basis, in order) were Bastrop, Hays, Williamson, Caldwell, and Burnet counties.

AUSTIN, Texas — Fitch Ratings has assigned an 'AA-'rating to the City of Bastrop (the city), Texas' $7 million certificates of obligation (COs).

The bonds are scheduled for a competitive sale on May 27, 2014. Proceeds will finance various utility projects.

In addition, Fitch affirms approximately $41.2 million outstanding general obligation (GO) bonds and COs at 'AA-'.

The Rating Outlook is Stable
