  BastropTX Main Street Re‐Development Continues ‐            Lock Drugstore at 1003 Main Street

            Exciting renovations are underway in historic downtown Bastrop. The W.J. Miley Drug Store opened in 1905 at 1003 Main Street, and since that time has served generations of visitors and Bastrop residents. Many locals now refer to the building as Lock Drugstore, which resided at that location for nearly 45 years serving famous milkshakes and sodas from the turn of the century soda stand. When Lock Drugstore relocated to Texas 71 in 2015, Bastrop Property Group acquired the Main Street property.

            1003 Main Street is not the first historic property renovation Bastrop Property Group is undertaken, nor will it be the last. “We are committed to downtown Bastrop, and are pleased to invest in the Main Street Program area,” said Jennifer Long, Broker, Bastrop Property Group. 1003 Main Street is currently undergoing renovations from getting a new roof, updating the mechanicals, flooring, and refinishing the historic drug store soda fountain. “We take great pride in maintaining as many architectural significant features as possible on all of our properties,” said Long.

            With the assistance of the Bastrop Economic Development Corporation (EDC) and the City of Bastrop Main Street Program, Bastrop Property Group is currently looking for lease tenants for the property. “Thankfully Bastrop Property Group understands the importance of improving the retail mix in downtown Bastrop, the building formerly known as Lock Drug Store will make a wonderful home for a new business that can help strengthen the retail and culinary corridor along the North West portion of Main Street,” said Main Street Program Director Sarah O’Brien.
